Kalithea

Keywords: Fire worms

Kalithea Bay in Rhodes, Greece is a beautiful place with nice warm and clear waters. Had 2 very nice dives with Trident divers on the boat Armonia. Both dives are very easy and safe and I was looked after very good by the Trident staff. Unfortunately the video camera I hired was only set to 640 X 480 resolution, although it could have been set to HD, which was a pity. The first dive was at about 16m depth. Saw for the first time the 15cm long Fireworms and also some pipe fish, and some Tube worms. Be carefully about the Fireworms, as they have a group of venomous white bristles on each side of their body, which are flared out when the worm is disturbed. They injecting a powerful neurotoxin, which produce intense irritation and a painful burning sensation. Similar to the fire coral The second dive was shallower at about 13m max and trought interesting caves and swim troughts. Not so much fish life at this area.
